Missions of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Manhattan, Kansas.

At First Congregational United Church of Christ we believe the church exists for mission. For many people, “mission” conjures up images of missionaries serving in far away countries, but that is only a part of our mission. Some of our mission is right here in Manhattan, some even within our church walls. When we say the church exists for mission we mean that the church is how the mission of Jesus continues in our day and into the future.

One expression of our mission is our Mission Statement (below).

The Mission Statement

First Congregational United Church of Christ, Manhattan

The mission of our church is

• To love and accept others unconditionally as God loves and accepts us, and by example, to encourage others to do the same.
• To challenge ourselves to grow spiritually through worship, education, nurture, reflection, discussion, fellowship, and outreach.
• To minister to others locally, nationally, and globally with the same fervor as we minister to ourselves, through the sharing of our talents, gifts, and resources.

We hold ourselves accountable before God for this mission statement.
